Intel® Challenge Europe
The goal of Intel® Challenge Europe is to contribute to the entrepreneurial movement by helping to generate interest and development of technological projects with the great business potential. By advancing technology entrepreneurship, Intel® Challenge Europe can support projects that create value-added production chains and employment.
Between 2006-2010 the Hungarian Association for Innovation in corporation with INTEL Co. announced the Novatech.com Innovation Technology Business Plan Competition as a part of the "Intel Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge" program, as the predecessor competition of the Intel® Challenge Europe. From 2011 the Hungarian Association for Innovation is an official Intel Challenge Europe Affiliate Partner.
Only business plans that make integral use of novel technology, such as technologies in the following industry categories, will be chosen to participate:
Semiconductors, Manufacturing, and Hardware,
Mobile and Wireless,
Digital Home and Consumer Electronics,
Retail and Consumer Software,
Enterprise Software and IT,
Energy and Power Generation,
The competition is aiming to give students, alumni and local entrepreneurs the opportunity to work together to turn innovative ideas into successful businesses. Teams can enter the competition with 3-4 members. At least one of the members must be a university student or PhD student.
The competition has four parts: in the first round, a short business plan conception has to be uploaded to the www.intelchallenge.eu website. After pre-jurying, contestants have to work out their business plans. The third part is the European Regional Final, where business plans have to be successfully presented to the jury, constituted by the professionals of Intel.
The two winners of the regional competitions are invited to participate in the global finale in November at the University of California at Berkeley. Here, the three winners and the special prize winners receive thousands of USDs. The first prize winner also got some offers from venture capitalists.
